Why is it Walmart’s responsibility to see that their suppliers in foreign countries develop and meet local safety standards? If a country like Bangladesh does not have real workers standards, why should US regulators and consumers hold Walmart responsible for instituting them in a foreign nation?

We should be encouraging Walmart and other multinational US firms to exploit low-cost situations so that they can import affordable goods to consumers here in the US.
